Cross-Browser ::before and ::after pseudo-class polyfill (and use in older internet explorer versions)

I was asked to give support to a website in Internet Explorer < 8 and was looking for a solution for :before and :after pseudo-elements, so I eventually stumbled upon this gist that really solved my issue. I think it is worthy to share this one.
